In Afternic's Closing soon section! MyTVShow.mobi

I believe TV and video will be the killer app for the .mobi ext and mobile phones. In recent domain name sales, dot mobi has been the hottest ext's, recently bringing over $100,000 for some names in domain name auctions. We will all soon be looking for our favorite TV Show on our mobile phones.
I believe MyTVShow is the perfect name for dot mobi. It is currently in the "Closing soon" section at Afternic. The opening bid was only $300.00 and the reserve has been met. This means that the highest bidder will win the name at the end of the auction. The auction ends 12/15/07 Protect yourself by placing a proxy bid if you won't be around for the close. Here is a link to my Afternic Portfolio, MyTVShow.mobi is at the top, click on it for auction updates and information.

Update on well known Portfolio Sale

Update on Giving away good domain names.
(Update)
I have now lowered my reserves on almost all my names to $350. That is also the min bid. This means when you place your $350 bid, if no one else bids within 7 days, you win the name at $350.00 And if you don't place a potentially winning $350 bid on some of these names, you seriously shouldn't be in this business. If you view the portfolio you will see what I mean. Click the portfolio link toward the end of this post and judge for yourself. (End of update)
I have reduced my Afternic Portfolio prices once again by 50%. I am virtually giving them away now. These prices won't last long, so take advantage of me while you can.
Some of these names have Afternic appraisals in the tens of thousand of dollars. You have never seen this many good aftermarket domain names, this cheap. And probably never will again. I just need some quick cash for a major purchase of my own. So, again, take advantage while you can. If you don't buy one of these names at these prices, you may want to reconsider if this is the right business for you. The Basics Of Domain Name Registration And What It Means To You.

The Basics Of Domain Name Registration And What It Means To You.

By Larry Evans

As the number of companies offering available domain names increase, the numbers of people who are engaging in domain name registration also increase. This is just the cause and effect situation when it comes to domain name, right?

So for those who are planning to undergo for a domain name registration, some important things specifically about the basics or the ABCs of the domain name registration must be paid attention. Knowing the ABCs of domain name registration will help you to pick up the right domain name and at same time for an easy and smooth process of domain name registration.

First things first, before you go for a domain name registration it is important that you know the nature of the domain name. So what it is? The domain name is basically the address on the internet. It is generally composed of two major parts, the top level domain name and the mid level domain name or the second level domain. For example, in http://yourdomain.com, the “.com” is the top level domain, and the “yourdomain” is the second level domain.

Speaking of the top level domain name since this plays a large role in picking the right domain name for domain name registration; many experts have noted that before you go for a domain name registration, you should identify your top level domain. The .com is the most common top level domain that is used today, for it stands for commercial domains. Of course there are other types and each has its own uses and functions.

Moreover, when you go for a domain name registration, you should know that the domain name that is entered into the domain name registration contact information is added to a database of all the available domain names. As such, your contact, billing, administrative contact, and also your domain name server or DNS is added to this database. It is for the main reason that when someone lookup for a website, you are basically accessing this large database for all of the domain names entered through a domain name registration, and such database directs you to the necessary DNS to access their database to locate which computer your website is on.

Also of important consideration for a successful domain name registration is the awareness that a domain name may contain letters, numbers, and hyphen. Most of the domain names registered today end in the above top level domains, of which .com is the most well-known. Before a domain name registration, you should refresh your mind that a domain name cannot start or end with a hyphen, and no space is permitted before, between, and after your domain. And also you can have characters in your domain name registration for up to 67 characters, however, it is noted that the shorter the domain name, the better. So try to keep it below that length for greater compatibility.

Lastly, in the domain name registration, you should be aware that it is only the domain name registrars who can handle all the process of domain name registration. No one can access and modify the domain name database except the domain name registrars. So if you want to go for a domain name registration, the domain name registrars is the first resource that you should approach.

Website Domains For Sale

Website Domains For Sale

An average of 19,260 domain names expire every day. This number has increased tremendously since the same time last year when expired domain name figures were more like 1,200 daily. The expired domain name market is becoming increasingly popular with webmasters, who are locked in a fierce competition to stay one step ahead and get all the best domain names. The question is why do webmasters find someone else's old domain name so interesting?

What happens a lot of the time is people register a domain name, or purchase it for a year, they develop a web site and advertise it, to get targeted traffic. This takes a lot of time, money and effort, then due to unfortunate circumstances they may forget to re-register their domain, either they have lost interest, over looked a reminder that domain renewal was due or changed their e-mail address during the year that they used to register. Then just like that the domain name is up for sale.

Because of this, the domain, or address that they have created and all targeted traffic with the domain name becomes available for purchase. Thousands of these expired domain names are available every day. There are several tricks to knowing how to find these domain names, and how to know which domain names are valuable and which are not, and, most importantly, how to get to them first.

There are many benefits for picking up an expired domain name, unlike a new domain name, the expired name already has traffic that can come from search engine promotion, directories, forums, back links and a whole host of other promotion methods. Webmasters are using this to their advantage, either selling the domains for a profit, selling a web site with traffic already entering the site, or use as valuable sub domains for their own enterprise, thus increasing traffic to their own sites.

Quite often webmasters will register with an online service that notifies them daily of pending expiry of domain names, that will soon be up for purchase. This can keep a web master that desired extra step ahead of competitors. Competition for expired domain names, especially one word, catchy .com names is fierce, as they are in high demand and easy to remember, having most likely been around for a long time. So it is not surprising that some of them can be very valuable, for instance, a domain name could sell for $1M, yet it only costs $10 to re-register.

Benefits for acquiring an expired domain name are numerous, depending on what you want to do with it. For a small sum of around $10-$15 you have the potential of increasing traffic to your web site instantly, saving you a considerable amount of time, money and bother. It could be the cheapest targeted web site traffic around.
